Have you heard about this in the news? Here’s an excerpt…
The big white gate flew open. The bull came out bucking. The rider flopped from side to side and the bullfighters held back, letting the bull make his moves until the rider dropped off. Licciardello crouched in a heavily padded barrel, a human target should the bull decide to charge. Hawkins waited near the barrel, holding his big inner tube. A dummy with a mask of the President stood beside the clown, propped up by a broomstick…
T.J. Hawkins rolled out the big inner tube, and the bull lowered his head, shot forward and launched into the tube, sending it bounding down the center of the arena. The crowd cheered. Then the bull saw the Presidential dummy. He tore into it, sending the rubber mask flying halfway across the sand as he turned toward the fence, sending cowboys scrambling up the fence rails, hooking one with his horn and tossing him off the fence.
Of course the key to this story was the dummy wearing the mask of the President. It raises a lot of questions.
Was this stunt disrespectful to the Office of the President of the United States? Was it protected by Free Speech?
Was it disrespectful to the person of the President of the United States?
Was there a racial component?
What should happen to the clowns and announcers and management who instigated and carried out this stunt at a rodeo? Apologies? Resignations? Fired? Banned?
Maybe all the clowns should be sent to “sensitivity training”?
What about calls for DOJ and Secret Service investigations, this stunt implied violence against a dummy representing a sitting President after all?
Luckily none of these things happened. If there were a few people offended, they blew it off as the opposition having a bit of harmless fun at their guy’s expense. No one resigned, no one was banned, no one apologized, no one was fired, and no one went to sensitivity training. And the absurd idea of an investigation by anybody was never brought up if it even ever crossed anybody’s mind.
Really, I don’t even know why I’m bringing this up. It never even made the national news and the local guys barely covered it other than a puff piece or two describing the fun to be had at the rodeo.
Why would anyone give a second thought to a dummy with a mask of H.W. Bush being pummeled by a bull at a rodeo… 20 years ago? Which is, of course, the event I’m referencing to here. What did you think I was talking about?
Ohhh… Yeah… pretty well ALL of the Bullshit that didn’t happen 20 years ago DID happen this year (2013). It’s hard to pin down what’s different other than the political party and race of the Presidential effigy pummeled then and now. But, of course, that’s exactly the criteria that caused the Mainstream Media and Leftist, and Race Pimps to throw their latest hyper-sensitive hissy fit.
Liberal Media Bias? … You Bet Your Sweet Ass. Of course let’s not let the Race Pimps like the NAACP off the hook either. Hypocrites one and all.
