I thought the Prickly City cartoon (which I follow religiously) was really good today (on several levels). As a technical guy, I’m always telling my users to “reboot”; which in my defense solves the problem 90% of the time.

If I’m ever on life support and flat-line… don’t panic. Unplug me… wait a few seconds… and plug me back in. If that doesn’t work… then PANIC!

Scott Stantis is the creator of the politically conservative comic Prickly City. In the comic various characters (often animals) parody real life people. Hillary Clinton is currently parodied by Honey Bunny the newly elected Senator (from Arizona/Prickly City) who often finds herself is similar circumstances as Hillary. I just loved a recent line by Honey Bunny concerning one such scandal…

“They’ll get my emails when they pry them from my cold, dead, server!”

You’ve gotta know that Hillary feels the exact same way. Laws? Laws are for the little people… 🙂

I’ve really enjoyed Prickly City lately. It’s (conservative) political satire by Scott Stantis. Mr. Stantis has a way of abstractly representing modern society, and politics in an accurate, and funny way not seen since… Berkeley Breathed of Bloom Country.

Last week (9/15/14 –> 9/21/14) the strip addressed the rising of ISIS or more generally re-rising of “radical” Islam.

Here are the metaphors to help you out:

  • Prickly City: 21st Century America
  • Carmen: a young black conservative girl (the breaking of stereotypes is no coincidence)
  • Winslow (as in Arizona): a liberal yellow coyote (Note: Carmen & Winslow are best friends both from “Prickly City”.)
  • Senator Kevin (the Lost Bunny of the Apocalypse): a Senator from the great state Prickly City resides in who represents the political establishment (Republican and Democrat). He won his seat under the banner “Lefty Tea Party”, devised by Winslow. (Carmen and Winslow work as aids for Senator Kevin)
  • The Desert Hamsters: “radical” Islam in all it’s iterations

I particularly like the Friday strip that depicts the gut reflex reaction of each as the Hamsters advance on their position. 🙂 (As usual, you can click on a graphic to make it bigger and easier to read…. just sayin’.)

Cartoon - Prickly City - 2012 12 23 - New Year Resolve

We conservatives have our work cut out for us in 2013. Liberals ready to give away the farm (our nation’s prosperity, and freedom) with no inkling of the hole we’re in… Liberals stand over us and read our obituary while at the same time they whisper that we need to change (read: compromise our principles) or we’ll never win again…

[The lefts arguments contradict themselves. What good is advice to one already dead? Unless… you simply want to convince someone they are dead… and just in case you’re not quite dead yet… here’s some advice to transform yourselves into us, your enemy… Look guys, giving advice to the dead to change their ways kind of exposes your hand (actual fears and beliefs)…]

Still, it won’t be easy and is likely to be a losing battle (years from now)… but we will fight anyway!

“My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of Fellowship, but it is not this day!… This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you, stand!” – King’s Speech in Final Battle of Movie, Lord of the Rings – The Return of the King.

Let’s Roll…

Yeah, Same as last year! But Ryan gets it. He knows what the problem is. We haven’t had anyone who knows anywhere near that office in decades. We can only hope! 😉

If you’re not following the comic Prickly City by Scott Stantis you should. It’s kind of a conservative version of the leftist Non-Sequitur (which I also like and recommend); but a bit more intellectually honest.

Prickly City is pretty easy to pick up. The main character is a young black conservative girl named Carmen who lives in the Arizona desert with her friend Winslow, a liberal yellow Coyote. As in the old Bloom County’s the pair are involved in every Presidential election cycle. This year they are the campaign staff for Senator Kevin, a evil lost bunny of the apocalypse seeking the Republican nomination.

Unfortunately Kevin didn’t get the nomination, BUT is currently being vetted for the VP position by both the Romney and Obama (to replace Biden) camps.
