There are a few political axioms that I hold to be true. I have repeated them verbatim (and in general) in my writings for years. They include…

“A moderate is someone who pauses in the middle of the road… before turning left.” — TexasLynn

“The Democrats are taking this nation straight to hell at a dead run. Every now and then we elect enough Republicans to slow us down to a trot.” — TexasLynn

“The Republican Party has proven that it will NEVER be part of the solution to this nation’s problems.” — TexasLynn

All three of these (and especially the last two) have proven themselves out over the past few months.

A particular case in point… This week the GOP will again not do anything on health care. After wailing and gnashing their teeth for seven years concerning Obamacare, after passing a repeal SEVEN times (when Obama was President), today they will do NOTHING.

This might confuse the political novice who might ask… “Why don’t they just pass the same bill of repeal they passed seven times before”. The answer is they can’t (or won’t… take your pick).

This might confuse the political novice who might ask… “Why not?” The answer is they don’t have the votes.

This might further confuse the political novice again, who might ask… “But they passed it before?” The answer to that is yes, but that was when they knew that the vote meant nothing, that was when they knew it would be vetoed. The GOP (mostly the moderates) was willing to stand on conservative principle when conservative principles were guaranteed not to be applied.

That was the proverbial pause in the middle of the road… with their blinkers bright and shiny, flashing on the right side for all to see. Today, where the road meets the rubber (as they always do)… they turned left.

People - Huckabee, Mike“If the Republicans want to lose guys like me — and a whole bunch of still God-fearing Bible-believing people — go ahead and just abdicate on this issue (gay marriage), and why you’re at it, go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter, either. Because at that point, you lose me. I’m gone. I’ll become an independent. I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand. I’m tired of this.” — Mike Huckabee, former governor or Arkansas, Fox News Commentator, and possible candidate for President for 2016 (The governor was speaking on American Family Association’s radio show Oct. 2014)

I’ve been where I hope Governor Huckabee and I hope others are heading for well over a year now. I’ve abandoned the Republican Party. They will NEVER be part of the solution. Their game plan is simply being less of a problem than the Democrats. The Republican Party’s moto might as well be “We’ll take you to hell in a hand-basket too… we’ll just do it slower than the Democrats.

Political Cartoon - 2014 08 08 - Lisa - On the Right Track

On social issues they have already abandoned us and on fiscal issues they are at best pansies or at worst hypocrites.

Case in point. The 2014 elections less than a month away. The Republicans think they have the Senate locked up; or at least the good chance of it… so what do they do before the election… Anyone, anyone (Ben Stein impersonation)? Nothing. They’re too afraid of the MSM (Main Stream Media) and their own stupidity. Granted both are real threats.

So what should they have done in your humble bloggers opinion? Take the easy layup; especially if that layup could possible achieve a goal these idiots haven’t been able to to even get close to in years; namely the dismantling of Obamacare.

The layup I am speaking of is…. Pass a simple, short, straight forward bill that basically reads “No bailouts for insurance companies. Period.” Of course most people would say “Huh? Of course those evil bastards shouldn’t get any government bailouts!” But that is exactly what it on the horizon, exactly what is the law of the land. It is the key part of Obamacare that paid off the insurance companies to go along. It is the corporate welfare, quid-pro-quo bullshit Obama and the Democrats pretend they are against, but practice all the time. It is exactly what was hidden in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and something the Main Stream Media has managed to keep hush hush.

Simply do the right thing. Do an easy thing. Something everybody and his dog would support. Remove the billions in bribes and pay-offs about to be sent to the co-conspirators in the Insurance Industry and they will abandon the Obamacare scheme. The whole mess will implode.

But what do the Republicans do? Anyone, anyone… they sit on their hands and grin stupid-ass grins with visions of power (the Senate) dancing in their heads.

Time to Cut Our Losses and Abandon the GOP. It's time for a third part... the Tea Party

“Well, this is it. Today is your last chance to enroll in a medical insurance plan under Obamacare. There will be no exceptions, other than people who haven’t yet enrolled. And if you don’t have insurance, you will pay a penalty. Make that a tax. Unless the tax would be a hardship in any way, in which case just don’t pay it and the IRS will be totally cool.” — JAMES TARANTO (WSJ)

So today is the first (of many) final deadlines to sign up for Obamacare.

Here are a few things we know (or can logically deduce since information from the administration is rather sparse):

  • 4 out of 5 plans are subsidized
  • 3 out of 4 now have a higher premium
  • A large majority of those who have signed up already had insurance before (it was just canceled because of Obamacare).
  • Of the 30 plus million who didn’t have insurance before, only about 1 million (3%) (maybe) are now covered. That’s OK (as far as the left is concerned) healthcare was not the goal here. Control was the goal.
  • Billions (in tax dollars) will soon be paid to the insurance companies (it was part of the bill) in a planned initial bailout. It’s why the insurance companies signed on to the scheme in the first place.
  • The administration will be touting the over 6 million “enrolled” but claim (a lie) that they don’t know the percentage that have actually paid.
  • The administration also claims (a lie) that they don’t know the percentage of young (healthy) versus old.
  • The administration doesn’t see fixing Obamacare as a technical or logistical problem. A better message is what is needed.

Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) comes down to another ill-conceived, bureaucratic, behemoth, debacles, pushed on America by the left. In the long run it may work… in the since that it becomes another popular entitlement pushing us (actually our children and grandchildren) with even greater momentum to hell (insolvency). But control and government dependency in the meantime is the goal of the left and eventual hell (insolvency) is a small price to pay for that.

In the short term (2014 & 2016), let’s hope there is a price to be paid by Obama but more specifically his Party. We’ll see.

But good news for the left… in the end you win. We can no easier turnaround from this fate you have set us on than turn back the tide. Conservatives may manage to build a dam of sand but really we have no chance of fixing this. Obamacare is not the problem, but rather a symptom of the real disease of socialism slowly replacing the great experiment of freedom and self-determination.

IngsocTo sell Obamacare to the public, payments to the IRS were billed as “not a tax” and it was billed as “not a tax” for a long time. Then came the Supreme Court challenge and the lawyers realized there was no way for the “law” to be upheld unless it was… a tax… so in the halls of the Court it was… a tax. But that hurdle has been cleared for some time and it’s back to appearance trumping substance. So when’s the last time you heard of the penalty to paid for not getting insurance (Obamacare or otherwise) described as a tax again (by someone other than a conservative).

The IRS is certainly not going to make that mistake. They they know who they serve. (Hint: It’s not the people, it’s the left.)

“If you (or any of your dependents) do not maintain coverage and do not qualify for an exemption, you will need to make an individual shared responsibility payment with your return.” — IRS Term for the Obamacare Mandate Tax

This is the reason the IRS needs to go away… but then, that could be said about most government agencies.

But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever. — George Orwell (1984)

We control life, Winston, at all its levels. You are imagining that there is something called human nature which will be outraged by what we do and will turn against us. But we create human nature. Men are infinitely malleable. — George Orwell (1984)

Obama - Dictator - 1984

King - PoopThe new leftist mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, recently came up with a 62 point safe street initiative; an aggressive plan to curb traffic accidents and deaths in the Big Apple. He personally shot a public service announcement announcing the crackdown. That public announcement included the words “We’ve put a very bold plan before you, and we want the public to know we are holding ourselves to this standard.”

And a day or two later… de Blasio is seen in his (chauffeured) car totally ignoring New York traffic laws. His cars (two in the caravan) routinely were documented speeding (sometimes 20 or 30 mph over the limit), blowing through stop signs, and breaking all kinds of traffic laws. The reporter who documented all this noted enough infractions that the driver’s license would have been legally suspended had he actually been held accountable.

When the mayor finally commented on the incident, he took a page from his President and threw his driver and the NY Police Department under the bus. It seems the police are in charge of his transportation and he was just an innocent passenger, begging them to obey the law the whole time. His response is, of course, bull shit; but more than that its royalty dismissing out-of-hand a petty concern of his subjects.

The issue here isn’t the ignoring of the law so much as the prevailing attitude among many the elites in government, Hollywood, and the ultra-rich.

Movie - Monty Python Holy Grail - Peasants

When de Blazio comes up with new rules and laws concerning how you should drive in New York… those restrictions are meant for YOU, the little people, the serfs. It never occurred to the mayor or anyone in his organization that those rules or laws would ever apply to him. Even when his own words in the announcement said “we are holding ourselves to this standard”, thinking those words had meaning would be ludicrous. It’s the mind-set of these jerks.

And I don’t want to just pick on the mayor of New York here. This is a common belief system among the elites.

People - Gore, Al - Nobel PrizeWhen Al Gore says you need to reduce your carbon footprint. He doesn’t include himself in that. He’s too important. He’s the exception… along with every other elite prick pushing global warming. Jets, mansions, limousines? At best they offset that by buying carbon credits from one of Al’s companies; Al paying Al for permission to do as he pleases. What it really comes down to is; it’s us little people who must pay and obey.

When Obama and the Democrats pushed Obamacare on us; it was under the guise of providing for the little people. And while it’s true the law does give subsidies to the poor… what is says to the middle class is “buy this crap or pay a fine”. Again, it’s the serfs who must obey. When Congress realized they forgot to exclude themselves or their employees they threw a hissy fit about a “brain drain”. Their solution? Have the bureaucrats declare “Oh, the law doesn’t apply to you guys after all”. And why should it? As if they were serfs like the rest of us.

Foreign diplomats and United Nations guys get a pass on certain U.S. laws? Understandable in theory; we don’t want our guys harassed over there. It’s a quid pro quo; except the practice is heavily abused. Why? They’re not like us. They’re not serfs.

The IRS screwing the tea party guys in coordination with the ATF, Justice Department and other government agencies is partly due to the attitude of those pulling the strings saying “Who do these serfs think they are? We’ll show them their proper place…”

The list of abuses goes on and on and on… Eventually (one would hope) the serfs have to say, enough is enough. The concept of the rule of law must be reborn in the psyche of this nation. Laws must apply to everyone… even these elites. Accountability must be brought to bear. But the system is so screwed up that law and accountability are out the window… probably irreversibly.

Education - Common - Core - StandardsGeorge Will had a pretty good article on “Doubts Over Common Core” recently. The education initiative hasn’t been in the news lately which is exactly what its proponents want. They know it would be best to boil this frog as slowly as possible. Hopefully that will change soon and Mr. Will thinks it will.

“It is the thin end of an enormous wedge. It is designed to advance in primary and secondary education the general progressive agenda of centralization and uniformity.” – George Will

Education - Common - Core - HappyIt’s a wedge in that it is completely voluntary… unless of course you want some relief from the “No Child Left Behind” regulations. Nope you don’t have to do this one bit… unless you want your share of the $4.35 billion of the “Race to the Top” stimulus… Translation; comply or we will continue to bend you over the table and take your lunch money.

As we can easily see this is not exception to most leftist programs and initiatives. You can pretty well bet the arguments for and the planned implementation is disingenuous from the beginning.

Opposition is growing a bit, and the left is taking a page from the Global Warming folks in dealing with the detractors. Don’t actually address their concerns or debate them in any way. Instead, demean and marginalize them personally.

“It’s ludicrous to think that multiplication in Alabama and multiplication in New York are really different.” – Bill Gates (supporter of Common Core in addressing critics)

I’m sure those of us who don’t support Common Core are also “flat earth” espousing Neanderthals as well. This is what now passes for debate for the left’s perspective.

“Fifty years of increasing Washington input into K-12 education has coincided with disappointing cognitive outputs from schools. Is it eccentric that it is imprudent to apply to K-12 education the federal touch that has given us HealthCare.gov?” – George Will

Common Core (as Will points out) is also yet one more example of Barack Obama’s (and his administrations’) “indifference to legality.” Practically every act of law concerning education passed since 1965’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (the beginning of federal intrusion into education) has language to the effect that “nothing in this act” shall authorize any federal official to “mandate, direct, or control” schools’ curriculum.

“Nevertheless, what begins with mere national standards must breed ineluctable pressure to standardize educational content… By a feedback loop, these tests will beget more curriculum conformity. All of this will take a toll on parental empowerment, and none of this will escape the politicization of learning like that already rampant in higher education.” – George Will

Like millions of insurance policies being canceled, Washington control of local school curriculum is not a surprise to Common Core instigators. It has been planned from the beginning. It is the end goal even though it’s against the law.

George Will thinks opposition is growing…

“Political dishonesty has swift, radiating and condign consequences. Opposition to the Common Core is surging because Washington, hoping to mollify opponents, is saying, in effect: ‘If you like your local control of education, you can keep it. Period.’ To which a burgeoning movement is responding: ‘No. Period.’” – George Will

Let’s hope he’s right.

You know it’s bad when even the leftist late night guys are turning against you.

And don’t let it be said that I didn’t learn anything from this video. I never would have guessed that we (taxpayers) (through Medicare) have paid $172 million dollars for penis pumps. To be fair that was between 2006 through 2011 so that only averages out to $28.6 million dollars a year on those things. Chump change.

I often say that our society is terminally ill… and catch grief for that opinion. Not that we need any more evidence; there are thousands of examples just like this one… but really? Have we reached a point where someone has to say the words “We should not be paying for anybody’s penis pump? Not one dollar, much less 28 million of them?” Really?

Nero fiddled as Rome burned… Obama will take a selfie… as the rest of us pump like crazy…
