Main Stream Media - Bias - Bet Your Sweet AssI listened to the whole debate last night… while I cleaned my kitchen and worked on my computer and wrote a response for my blog and…

I have a few opinions/observations that I’ll share.

  1. I didn’t watch the debate; I just listened. And I understand a lot of deciding who wins or loses is in the visual cues of the candidates. By listening (or reading) you can only judge by substance. 🙂 There wasn’t much of that from either side.
  2. I think it was a tie. Didn’t hear any real decisive moments or quips from either side.
  3. The moderator was terrible. But what do you expect from the likes of Lester Holt (a member of the Main Stream Media). The bias was obvious… again.

Moderator not Fact-Checker
My first complaint about Holt was his challenging of answers given by Donald Trump. He didn’t do that to Clinton… at all… not even once. If you want to challenge the candidate you do that at the beginning of the question and leave it at that. For example you say “Mr. Trump… in 2003 you said to Bob Reporter that you thought the Iraq invasion was a good idea, yet you claim you were against it from the beginning; how do you reconcile that?” And that’s it. You let the candidate answer and you say nothing else. YOU are the MODERATOR… NOT the on premise, off-the-cuff (Republican candidate only) FACT CHECKER. That is the responsibility of the other candidate and actual fact checkers parsing through the debate you are supposed to be moderating.

One problem with leftist moderator’s real-time fact checking is that they often get it wrong (just like in their “reporting”). Candy Crowley got it wrong when she corrected Romney (siding with Obama) regarding Benghazi; and the Obama administration’s failure to identify it as terror (instead of a demonstration gone bad). The error is then out there… and a correction is never offered.

Stop and Frisk
Lester Holt did the same thing last night by stating that “stop and frisk” had been found unconstitutional. What does that mean to you the listener? If I heard that, I would think that it is settled law across the land and it’s unconstitutional. It all gets back to the leftist definition of what “is” is.

Here are the facts…

U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin ruled in 2013 that New York’s stop and frisk practices, were unconstitutional. Wow that settles it right? Well actually there are two key phrases that are important here (that are totally ignored by the left in order to give a false impression). First is “New York” and the second is “practices”. “Practices” legally means that the judge didn’t strike down stop and frisk in totality, but only stop and frisk as specifically practiced by this city (New York) at that time. This only applied to New York and supposedly the city could have tweaked the way they practiced the procedure and tried again… but we’re talking New York here now under a new leftist regime; so it just settled the case.

Now understand this, leftist Judge Scheindlin would have loved to have struck down stop and frisk overall, but she didn’t… she couldn’t. Why? Because her bosses’ a few rungs up the ladder had already ruled on that question long ago and that ruling still stands. The Supreme Court ruled in 1968 in “Terry v. Ohio” that stop and frisk was constitutional. The Supreme Court has even confirmed and expanded on that ruling in other cases since. Stop and frisk IS constitutional. Yes, it’s being attacked by leftist judges across the land in individual cases, but it remains legal overall. Hillary (and Lester Holt) would have you believe a lie based on a half-truth and that Trump is an idiot for not know that. And they are largely successful thanks to the professional and intellectual dishonesty of the press (from which moderators are chosen).

Guess what the news stories will say today (right after the debate)? They will say that Trump was wrong and that stop and frisk was found unconstitutional. They will concentrate on this minor leftist nut-job of a judge and go no further? Why would they? Doing so doesn’t fit their narrative. It all gets back to partial truth used to sell a lie. It all gets back to weasel words. It all gets back to what your definition of “is” is. It all gets back to the left; which includes the main stream media and presidential debate moderators being so good at deception. It’s their job after all.

Call Out Trump Check – Call Out Hillary
My second observation is that Lester Hold asked Trump specific questions about his support of the birther conspiracy, his tax returns, his bankruptcies, and his early support of the Iraq invasion. Good for Lester… totally valid and tough questions and topics.

For the record… Trump is totally guilty on the birther thing… but Trump is also right that Hillary’s minions (Blumenthal and others) started the whole thing. They use the fact that these minions were not officially tied to the campaign at the time to claim plausible deniability. Again we see lies based simply on what your definition of “is” is. That’s good enough for the MSM, who will push the Hillary hook, line, and sinker.

Back to the main point. Lester hammered Trump with some tough questions. Again, totally valid… So did Lester ask Hillary about Benghazi? Did Lester ask Hillary about her email servers? Did Lester ask Hillary about the Clinton Foundation and “pay for play”? Nope… not one word. Crickets. The only way Hillary faced any touch issues all night, was for Trump to bring it up. (And he did a terrible job of it.) The left is practically never held to the same level of scrutiny as the right. This debate (hell all debates) is no exception.

What I Got from the Debate
So what is the main thing I took away from the debate last night? Lester Holt is a leftist, biased, hack (as if there were any questions going in). If Trump was going to have to debate both Hillary and Lester, why not put him behind a podium on stage and officially remove the illusion of objectivity.

Main Stream Media - Bias - Bet Your Sweet AssWASHINGTON (AP) — The GOP-controlled House has voted to slash the budget for the Internal Revenue Service’s tax enforcement division by $1.2 billion, a 25 percent cut that would mean fewer audits of taxpayers and make it more likely that people who cheat on their taxes will get away with it.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The GOP-controlled House has voted to slash the budget for the Internal Revenue Service’s tax enforcement division by $1.2 billion, a 25 percent cut that would mean fewer government thugs to harass conservative organizations and citizens, finally protecting their already ravaged civil rights from this corrupt government bureaucracy.

Both of these introductions to a news story concerning a cut to the IRS budget would be true. But which one would be biased? Answer, both.

Main Stream Media - Associated Press LogoWhich one was actually written and published by the Associated Press. 🙂 As if the question even needs to be asked…

THIS is the state of journalism in this nation. This is the Associated Press.

Before closing let’s give the left-wing “journalists”, Andrew Taylor, credit for this steaming pile of journalism . Ohh, and “writer” Stephen Ohlemacher contributed.

Main Stream Media - Bias - Bet Your Sweet Ass[This is a series of posts intended to expose and comment on the OBVIOUS left-wing liberal bias of the media (or main stream media) and the sad state of American journalism.]

You turn on the TV, and you see very bland interviews. Journalists in the United States are very cozy with power, very close to those in power. They laugh with them. They go to the [White House] correspondents’ dinner with them. They have lunch together. They marry each other. They’re way too close to each other. I think as journalists we have to keep our distance from power.

I’m not seeing tough questions asked on American television. I’m not seeing those correspondents that would question those in power. It’s like a club. We are not asking the tough questions. — Jorge Ramos, Univision/Fusion Anchor

People - Ramos, Jorge - UnivisionJorge Ramos (like the vast majority of journalist) is an ideological leftist; and while that is a problem he is blind to he at least has the intellectual and professional honesty to see the horrid state of American journalism. He at least sees the obvious; the coziness and the nepotism between “journalist” and those in power be it political or money. It’s questionable if he sees the leftist bias (which he shares) as being the main cause of the coziness.

He is also frustrated enough with his own side; that he will actually confront them with their failures. That at least is refreshing in the world of journalism these days.

I really wouldn’t mind the left-wing bias resulting in reporters being hard on the right if it was honest and fiar… though it’s generally not. Holding my side to a higher standard is fine with me. The real problem is the left-wing bias promoting the coddling and outright protecting of the left, it’s incompetence, and sometimes illegal acts. (see Benghazi and the IRS for examples)

Journalists today are not only willfully dishonest but they have betrayed a sacred trust the founding fathers relied upon to protect this nation from internal threats; threats currently running roughshod over the Constitution today. The founding fathers feared the press being taken over by government; they never imagined the press itself would surrender that power and responsibility on its own accord.

Liberal Media Bias? You Bet Your Sweet Ass! Jorge Ramos may practice it and may not see it as the cause; but at least he sees the appalling results… and that’s a something.

Leftist, liberal College Professor at East Connecticut State University (ECSU) proves why our education system is in such a mess.

[As usual, click to enlarge]

Want to know why our higher education system is such a mess? I present to you Professor Brent Terry at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU)… I did want to make sure I properly credited the college (that’s Eastern Connecticut State University or ECSU) even through they take absolutely no responsibility for anything said in their classrooms what-so-ever.

The funny thing is its conservative responses to morons like this that the left uses to paint us as anti-intellectual, and anti-education. [Eyes rolling]

As a followup, Brent did apologize for the statement… but what do you want to bet this isn’t the first time he’s done something like this or that it will not be the last time?

We need diversity (intellectual diversity) on college campuses; but that would mean releasing (firing) half the current faculty (practically all leftist) to make room for conservatives.

Main Stream Media - Bias - Bet Your Sweet AssThis is what can happen when you let ditzy local reporters have access to the Obama Administration (Obama and Jay Carney). They may participate in the love-fest but they’re not smart enough to hide it (as well).

“It was a very busy day. We started here shortly after 8 o’clock with a coffee with press secretary Jay Carney inside his office in the West Wing. And this was off-the-record so we were able to ask him all about some of the preparation that he does on a regular basis for talking to the press in his daily press briefings. He showed us a very long list of items that he has to be well versed on every single day.” — Reporterette from Arizona

Watch this… the “reporter” is about to demonstrate she doesn’t know what “off-the-record” means.

“And then he also mentioned that a lot of times, unless it’s something breaking, the questions that the reporters actually ask — the correspondents — they are provided to him in advance. So then he knows what he’s going to be answering and sometimes those correspondents and reporters also have those answers printed in front of them, because of course it helps when they’re producing their reports for later on. So that was very interesting.” — Reporterette from Arizona

Concept - Dog and Pony ShowDo you think Carney intended that little gem (being provided the questions ahead of time) was meant to be “off-the-record”?

Are there any idiots out there that think this little quid-pro-quot was extended to any Republican press secretaries?

But isn’t it nice that the White House talking points… (answers to questions) are provided so the reporters won’t actually have to report or think, or do something drastic, like, practice journalism.

These aren’t press events… they’re dog and pony shows. Liberal Media Bias? You Bet Your Sweet Ass!

Main Stream Media - Bias - Bet Your Sweet AssSo I did something over the weekend (2/1/14) I don’t normally do. I watched some of the MSM (Main Stream Media) news broadcasts and morning shows; specifically ABC and NBC. Unfortunately it’s something I do from time to time to gauge how much further into the cesspool our society has slipped. As expected the experience was a painful ordeal of rapid fire, unapologetic, unrelenting…. BIAS and HYPOCRISY.

Of course the topic that dominated the broadcasts was the Chris Christie bridge closing fiasco. The anchors, guests, and pretty well everyone appearing on these programs where gleeful of the troubles now faced by Chris Christie. The big story was new allegations from some lackey that Christie knew early on about the bridge closing. From what I gathered, this guy says there is proof… to which I say… why not produce it instead of just telling us about it?

People - Christie, Chris - Blocking TrafficDon’t get me wrong. The Christie Bridge Closing thing is news. It deserves attention and vetting. And if Christie knew or sanctioned any of that kind of crap his career should be over (even if he is the product of the likes of New Jersey). Anyone who committed crimes should go to jail. And the media should be a watchdog that ensures crap like this is exposed and those responsible are held accountable. At the same time, it should exonerate those who are victims of criminals and idiots as Christie claims to be.

That is not what is happening here. Instead we have a MSM witch hunt where the facts or news is immaterial. There is one goal here and it’s not to inform… it’s to get Christie. This is the exact opposite of what is happening concerning leftist candidates… and more specifically Barack Obama. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS, etc… all deserve the same (actually more) attention. But where was that attention? Where is it today? There is one goal here and it’s not to inform… it’s to cover Obama’s ass.

I remember one leftist (on NBC) say that Christie’s claim of not knowing wasn’t sufficient; that if he didn’t know he should have and therefore should resign either way. You have got to be kidding me! On what planet has this moron lived for the past six years? That has been Obama’s excuse on scandal after scandal from day one! Fast and Furious, Benghazi, IRS Political Targeting, Obamacare Debacle… you name it Obama just wasn’t in the loop. And people freakin’ died because of the claimed uninformed incompetence, people’s civil rights were violated… we’re not just talking being late for work here!

Meanwhile this lack of journalism and accountability allows Barack Obama to claim the absurd.

Obama claims… “These kinds of things (scandals) keep on surfacing, in part, because you and your TV station will promote them.” The problem isn’t that Fox News or Bill O’Reilly actually report on these scandals… but that they are the only ones. The MSM does more than just ignore them… they spoon feed their audience with the leftist spin as fact.

People - Obama, Barack - Manipulating MSM

And Obama claims… “There was some boneheaded decisions out of a local (IRS) office. [There was] not even a smidgen of corruption.” Bullshit! We know the decisions went all the way to Washington. Concept - BlindersThe local offices were taking their orders from way up the chain of command; thus the likes of Lois Lerner taking the 5th then retiring with full pay and benefits. There was definitely corruption there; but it was never looked into and never will be. The MSM is covering the collective asses of Obama, the leftist bureaucrats, and their allies.

Chris Christie deserves scrutiny. Republicans deserve scrutiny. I don’t even mind the higher standard conservatives are held to. If you’re playing footsy and who knows what in public restrooms or using government agencies to punish your opponents, I want you dumb and/or corrupt GOP ass out of there. But what is good for the Goose (Republican) is good for the Gander (Democrat).

Watchdog - BlindfoldYet today, there is very little scrutiny of the left by the MSM. It’s shameful and a betrayal of the public trust. And more it is a betrayal of the first amendment that our founding fathers envisioned as a check on government. And the sad (and scary) part of all this is that the MSM willingly and intentionally tossed its integrity, reputation, and public trust in the trash like so much unwanted garbage.

(Side Note: I will again remind my readers that I am no fan of Christie. In fact I have every intention of abandoning the Republican Party in the 2016 elections when they once again nominate a moderate (like Christie).)

Road KillJeff Bewkes took over Time Warner six years ago and a constant thorn in his side has been CNN. It continuing decline in credibility, and as a result (and more importantly to Jeff) ratings just won’t turn around.

Jeff’s latest attempt to stop the bleeding at CNN is Mark Zucker, hired in late 2012 to right the CNN (and HLN) ship. After a year… no too much has happened but Zucker is determined to shake things up. But what to do? CNN had a small degree of success in a documentary (Blackfish about Killer Whales in captivity) so Zucker is desperately latching onto that. He basically announced CNN putting less emphasis on actual news recently, then realizing his mistake and has been backtracking since.

“We’re expanding the definition of news. We’re not abandoning news by any stretch of the imagination… There will be more people working at CNN today than last year.” — Mark Zucker (CNN)

Translation? We have had our collective asses handed to us (by Fox News) for so long there’s no way we regaining that ground. We’ve tried, we’ve really, really tried and it’s just not happening. So… We’re abandoning the news…

Step 01… lay off 40 “senior” journalist from CNN news group. But don’t worry… As Mark said, they’ll be hiring more diverse people to replace those let go. Even more people will be working for CNN when all is said and done.

Translation? Low end low cost guys to produce stuff that isn’t so expensive. Like, documentaries and reality TV shows… which would fall under the category of “not news”. I’ve seen the “senior” layoffs at several corporations I’ve worked for. These were the experienced, high-end, better paid people. It’s like laying off your guys with 20+ years of experience and hiring a college intern to do the same job. The results are equally predictable.

Templage - MSM Parrot Obama, Dummy (no Quote)But CNNs problem comes down the same problem faced by Newsweek, Time, MSNBC, and every other main stream media outlet; a saturated market for their product. When everybody and his dog is selling the same thing (leftist slanted journalism analysis and opinion) to a finite number of people interested in that product, everyone is going to do poorly until enough of those sellers 1) go out of business or 2) innovate and start selling something else.

Poor old Fox News and Talk Radio have a different business model, of selling non-leftist slanted journalism and opinion (thus the label right leaning) to a different for at least equally sized market.

Do you see pattern? While the potential audience pools of those inclined to leftist leaning news and those inclined to conservative leaning news is probably about the same… but while you have thousands of companies like CNN trying to satisfy and divide up the lefty market, you have only two or three companies like Fox trying to satisfy the conservative market. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or even a TV News executive to do the math.

But ideology blinds the likes of Jeff Bewkes and Mark Zucker. They have no clue why CNN couldn’t break back into the news business. They have no clue that the slanted biased product they are offering is offered by ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, every local news station, every local newspaper… The market is saturated and Eskimo’s can buy only so much ice.

Meanwhile, there is a market for non-left slanted news, analysis, and opinion. You wouldn’t even have to conservative, just neutral and fair. But there is no way Jeff and Mark would ever be able to bring themselves to try and fill that need… if they could even bring themselves to see or acknowledge it in the first place.

To paraphrase an old effective political quote… It’s the bias! Stupid!
