I don’t give praise or credit too often to leftist (they rarely give me reason to); so let me take this opportunity to give praise to Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi pictured here washing the feet of a young lady. The ceremony included immigrants and people within the community on Good Friday 2014.
This is a poignant display of humility and service emulating the selfless acts and message from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Good Friday over 2000 years ago.
I’ll look past Mrs. Pelosi’s use of the occasion to talk politics and push for immigration legislation accompanied with all the propaganda associated with it. I’ll even look past the politically driven photo-op aspects of the event. The act itself was a nice gesture and something I hope allows Mrs. Pelosi to advance in her faith.
A bit of advice for next year though; keep it simple… let it just be a message about humility and service to one’s fellow men in His name.
It is my understanding that Pope Francis broke with tradition last year, washing the feet of inmates and women. This year he is reported to have washed the feet of the disabled and the elderly (some of them non-Catholic). Traditionally the Pope only washes the feat of priests. This too is admirable.
Happy Easter! He died for You! What each of us does with that gift is up to us. Amen!
