Recently, (August 6th, 2012) the Mars rover Curiosity landed on the red planet. The Obama White House was quick to issue a statement taking credit for the historic event. Obama practically rode the thing all the way down; making sure everything was OK before flying back to Earth.
Obama has also recently expresses his support for a manned mission to Mars in his lifetime!
“Thursday’s speech suggests that he has learned an important lesson from the yearlong struggle to pass health care reform. He needs to get involved early and not leave it to subordinates to defend plans that will upend vested interests.” – NYT (2012) on Obama’s call for a manned mission to Mars
Back in 2004 George W. Bush expressed his support for a manned mission to Mars in his lifetime!
“A manned space program in itself, however, is devoid of scientific merit, fraught with risk to human lives and absurdly expensive. Astronauts planting the Stars and Stripes on the red planet would produce a moving tableau. But as Lord Chesterfield said in another context, the pleasure would be momentary, the position ridiculous, and the expense damnable.” – NYT (2004) on Bush’s call for a manned mission to Mars
It seems a lot has changed in eight years concerning the merit of a manned mission to Mars. Perhaps it is the NYT knowing that Obama’s stance on anything is subject to evolution…
OR
Liberal Media Bias? You Bet Your Sweet Ass!

I’m missing something. How is Obama supporting a manned Mars mission, the NYT’s suggestion that he’s learned not to leave promotion of his ideas to subirdinates, and Bush’s lack of support for such a mission = media bias?
I mean, literally… where is bias expressed?
Bush supports a manned mission to Mars and the message from the NYT is Bush and his idea are “devoid of scientific merit”, “fraught with risk”, “absurdly expensive”.
Obama supports the same manned mission and the idea is no longer stupid. The NYT simply hopes the Messiah will do better than he did with health care reform and be more hands-on.
Thus LMB? YBYSA!
Oh. I thought that was a quote from Bush… though I found it weird that he used the word “tableau” and quoted Lord Chesterfield.
In fairness, The NYT has liberal and conservative (or at least centrist) editors, you know. Not sure which one wrote that. But, more to the point… stop poaching Michelle Malkin, you *looter*.

The quote is distinctly labeled NYT. And in fairness, the NYT is a left-wing rag.
And you almost made me post a semi-lewd comment about the lovely and talented Michelle Malkin; you bastard.
But nice diversion, lose argument… “Look a squirrel”.
