(Warning: The following is not for the squeamish or politically current. It doesn’t pull punches. If you are easily offended by someone who doesn’t tolerate evil it would be best that you just move on.)
The U.S. military accidentally burns a few Korans in Afghanistan and the nut-balls throw a fit. So President Obama and various other government officials send various apologies and the result is more fits and more violence.I’ll be honest; I’m fed up with this crap. Doesn’t any leader in this country have the balls to tell the sons-of-bitches to shut the $#@% up! It’s a freakin’ book! That’s it; that’s all! If their faith had anything behind it they would be more concerned about the words and ideas than about the ink and paper.
I might understand their outrage if these bastards showed one ounce of tolerance for anybody else and I mean anybody. But their “holy book” tells them to enslave and kill all non-believers. They are taught to hate the Jews and drive them into the sea. Israel must be destroyed (and along with it the West and the U.S.). *^$%^! They’re not even civilized enough to tolerate each other because Mohamed’s 2nd cousins didn’t quite agree on the color of Mohamed’s favorite goat.
But TexasLynn, you just don’t understand their culture. I think I understand it just fine. And I’ve got just a couple of questions. Where would these people be if not for the oil under their ground and through that the riches and blessings of Western culture, and technology? A hint… they’d all generally be pooping in holes they dug behind their tents.
I’ve read enough of the Koran to see just how vile it is! To imply that Allah is the same God as that of the Jews and Christians is ignorant, insulting, and blasphemous! I’ve seen the terror in Daniel Pearls eyes! I’ve seen the planes fly into the World Trade Center and people jumping to their deaths to escape the flames. I’ve seen them try and build a triumphant Mosque just blocks away, practically pissing on the graves of our fallen. I’ve seen them kill innocents again and again… I know! I know exactly what “Allah Akbar” means.
But TexasLynn, these are the acts of radicals misinterpreting the Koran and defiling Islam which is a religion of peace. Really, because the Koran I read didn’t talk about a whole lot of peace. And when it comes to the sane, civilized Muslims… Your silence is deafening! The only people I hear from is CAIR and they’re part problem. Telling me I MUST be more tolerant of this bullshit. Guess where you can stick that message!
Islam and those that practice it peacefully (if you are out there?); these nuts are YOUR problem. YOU should be addressing them. Why does the West (and specifically the U.S.) have to clean up your crap?! YOU should be doing it… all the while apologizing to us that you allowed it to get this bad!
I WANT AN APOLOGY DAMMIT!

If we would get off the oil, we could get out of these ass-backwards countries and let them self-implode.
The *true* cost of oil must include the wars we have fought and financial aid we have provided to that region for nearly a century.
I want an apology from the American politicians in both major parties for being prostitutes to the oil companies, for so long, and for using their powers to convince the American people that it’s just dumb, dumb, dumb to invest in alternatives.
As for Islam itself: We’re on the same page.
Islam is a bad religion. I personally think Mohammad was a schizophrenic who heard voices and wrote it all down. Notice how he’s allowed to change his mind across the Koran — it’s arranged by length of chapter, not chronology… which is nutty, when you realize it’s all written by one dude, in a relatively brief period (compared to the Bhagavad Gita, Dammapada, and Jewish/Christian Bibles). Not to mention the whole marrying-a-9-year-old thing (the Taliban supports the marrying-off of 8 year olds!). How can anyone hear this and not want to vomit?
I have a very simple defense of my two favorite religions, my own (Christianity) and Buddhism (a great influence, though in fairness, not a religion in the Western sense, as it makes no claims for or against God or life after death): Neither Jesus nor Buddha killed people to get their points across.
Rick: How many trillions of dollars More do we have to spend to Provide your idea of alternatives? Tell me which alternatives are “shovel ready”? Check out the New Electric cars. They get 100 MPG for about 30 miles then its back to the Gas Powered engine and back to 20 MPG. And where do you get the power for that Battery? From the Magic Plug in your house? The Only way to Cut the Cord from the MidEast is Drill Here, Drill Now and Drill Every Place that has Oil in North America. That all said…
Yes Islam is a very F###ed Up religion. It is taken from Judaism and Christianity and mixed in with the Bedouin Ideology and Tribalism from the MidEast.
James
Hey there, James! Hope you’re doing well.
I agree that electric cars don’t work. And yep, electricity comes mostly from plants powered by coal. I think we should invest more in nuclear power plants, coal scrubbers in the smokestacks, and also open up every piece of federal land we have for oil and natural gas exploration. The wind and water stuff can help, too, though not nearly as much as coal and natural gas and nuclear.
However, if I understand the numbers, we cannot develop as much oil as we need, at current usage levels. So I look at it the same was as a deficit, or anything else (like losing weight): we’ve got to increase production and reduce consumption. (increase exercise and reduce eating, etc).
I know Lynn agrees that we need to stop subsidizing the oil industry (along with everything else). So I look at the sometimes foolish subsidies (like Solyndra) as at least an attempt to level the playing field — though in that and many other examples, profoundly dumb ones.
Big Oil is not going to accept anything but growth, growth, growth until it implodes. Lynn has compared companies to sharks, and I agree that’s a useful metaphor. They don’t think about the nation’s interests — they think about feeding and getting bigger. And no, long term, that isn’t always in the nation’s interest, no matter how many people they employ. The Death Star employed a lot of people, too.
If we actually had a free market, I’d be content to let it decide things… but we don’t. We have a gov’t modified market. We always have, and short of Ron Paul being seated as King, I don’t see that changing.
In the mean time, I think we do need to have gov’t-supported research and development of alternative fuels. Many will fail. That’s how science works, and that’s how we’re going to remain competitive with China and India, who are going to kick our economic asses in this century if we don’t start catching up soon.
>> Rick: If we would get off the oil, we could get out of these ass-backwards countries and let them self-implode.
It would be nice… but there is only two ways that’s going to happen. I happen to believe in both of them.
1) We need to become self-sufficient with our own drilling AND utilizing our abundance of Coal and Natural Gas. Nuclear has a role to play in there also. To do that we have to stomp the wacko-environmentalist. (No liberal politician is going to do that…)
2) We need to look at alternatives, including solar, wind, and completely new technologies as they show promise. But for the most part, government needs to stay out of it. Otherwise you get this crap like Solyndra and the Chevy Phoenix… I mean Volt.
And it’s funny that the wacko-environmentalists are also fighting the solar and wind… “It’s ugly off my shoreline… It’s killing birds… Not in my back yard…”
>> Rick: The *true* cost of oil must include the wars we have fought and financial aid we have provided to that region for nearly a century.
True…
>> Rick: I want an apology from the American politicians in both major parties for being prostitutes to the oil companies…
You and I disagree on the level of prostitution that goes on there. It’s no better or worse than any other corporations. (Like GE) All that crap needs to end. Back to the oil companies… I think they get a bad rap on some things. Percentage wise they pay more taxes than the Hollywood studios and actors.
>> Rick: I know Lynn agrees that we need to stop subsidizing the oil industry (along with everything else).
Yes to subsidizing anybody… but as I blogged earlier I recently discovered the “oil company” subsidies are a complete myth. When it comes to oil companies the left and media define subsidy as “I don’t get to tax you as much as I want. The difference between what you are taxed and what I want to tax you is a subsidy.” The oil companies receive zero dollars from Uncle Sam (known as subsidies) for anything.
And… they receive no more tax breaks than any other industry in this country…
>> Rick: So I look at the sometimes foolish subsidies (like Solyndra) as at least an attempt to level the playing field
Again, that only works if you buy into the left/media definition of subsidies. Solyndra received actual dollars… half a billion of them to be exact. Oil companies’ receipt of federal dollars equals zero.
>> Rick: Lynn has compared companies to sharks, and I agree that’s a useful metaphor.
Thank you…
And Oil companies are no different. I was watching O’Reilly the other day and he had an “expert” say that because of demand overseas, we were actually exporting some of the oil drilled here in the U.S. (see the shark mentality) I agree with O’Reilly is saying that is B.S. We may give the oil companies permission to drill here or there, etc… but when it comes right down to it… that permission must come with the stipulation that a large percentage of that oil stay here.
>> Rick: As for Islam itself: We’re on the same page.
I’m really fed up with this religion. It is the root cause of so many of the worlds problem. And then we have to listen to the propaganda from them and the secularists. “Religion of Peace” my ass. Today, right now! Where are the moderate Muslim voices condemning this crap! It doesn’t exist and never has.
>> James: The Only way to Cut the Cord from the MidEast is Drill Here, Drill Now and Drill Every Place that has Oil in North America. That all said…
Bam… Right on the money as to my point one above. Use everything we have in abundance here to become self-sufficient.
>> Rick: In the mean time, I think we do need to have gov’t-supported research and development of alternative fuels. Many will fail. That’s how science works,
I agree with the gov’t supported research… but that has to be closely monitored and should be done on an academic and agency level. No/Zero money should ever be given to a private company. If the business model is there, private dollars will fund it. If not… then the technology or market isn’t there yet.
This rewarding of your money-bundlers crap has definitely got to stop. People should be in prison for what happened there, including the executives of Solyndra, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, and even Obama depending on what he knew and when he knew it.
>> Rick: Hey there, James! Hope you’re doing well.
Yes, James… glad you joined us.
>You and I disagree on the level of prostitution that goes on there. It’s no better or worse than any other corporations.
Well, the main difference I see is that when GE prostitutes itself, it isn’t requiring us to use our military to invade, kill, and set up long-term/permanent camps.
Now, GE does support the war effort, as a contractor (as do a lot of companies). And that’s fine. But GE, GM, and the rest don’t directly need us to stabilize the Middle East (an impossible task). Exxon-Mobil does.
But, I guess if I’m gonna roll with the drug-addict metaphor, then I’ve got to address the addicts (ourselves) as well as the dealers.
